Moving into more straight-up deep house territory with this three-track EP from Chicago’s mighty Large Music. Everybody is up first, quite a summery, lazy kinda groove with chiming chords, an intricate bassline and sampled, spoken male vox. For The Music follows a similar MO but is a little more uptempo, with some gorgeous garage-y Rhodes chords and more sampled, spoken vox, in this case about “doing it just for the music”. And then finally there’s Tear Apart, which is an instrumental affair but utitilises a similar “rolling beats and understated but chunky bass” blueprint to the other two.
Based in the beautiful city of Leipzig Germany, Erik Ellmann burst on to the Deep House scene with his “Brown Acid” ep on the acclaimed Beef Records in May of 2015.
